The point is, that if you plan on joining a gym and have the slightest inclination that you’ll quit in a couple months, don’t do it, you’re wasting your money. Who knows if that’s even close to the actual number, but it illustrates the point that these gyms need people to sign up who will never come. Someone once told me they had a friend opening a big box gym, and that to even begin turning a profit, they needed 700 sign-ups. ![]() But as the owner of a training facility, I can safely say that there is no way to maintain such large, expensive facilities with such low fees unless many, many people come rarely, if at all.
